Today we will be discussing “WHO ARE YOU?” by virtue of your talent.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma—which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.”

 – Steve Jobs, founder of Apple

Everybody in this life is created unique and nobody succeeds by chance. There are no two individuals that have similar traits in every ramification per se. We are all different and peculiar in our own little way. Sadly, rather than maintaining our uniqueness, many try to become some other people for whatever reasons, thereby burying their own uniqueness in the sea of forgetfulness in the process.

It’s important that we all sit down and reflect on this simple but all important question of who we really are. If you don’t answer this question yourself, someone else will attempt to do so for you and rather wrongly. If you don’t tell the world who you are, the world will tell you who you are not!

Remember, you are neither an accidental discharge nor a byproduct of evolutionary process. You are created special and unique. You are created with a purpose in mind. There are no two of you out there. You are created because you are a solution provider. There is a place in this life that is meant for only you and no one else.

Friends, you are:

  1. Created Unique

Trying to be anyone else is a waste of the person you are.  Embrace that individual inside you that has ideas, strengths and beauty like no one else.  Be the person you know yourself to be – the best version of you – on your terms.  And above all, be true to yourself – if you cannot put your heart in it, take yourself out of it.

Trying to be someone else will hurt you. To experience healing therefore , embrace the fact that you are a unique individual and not a carbon copy of someone else.

I aptly captured this in my book “Putting Your Talent to Work” published by Authorhouse UK and available online in a number of sites such as Google, amazon.co.uk, kindle eBooks and www.authourhouse.co.uk.  In the book, I wrote:

Just as your finger prints are unique and identical to you only, you will discover your talent uniquely yours. True, there may be many singers but the rhythm behind your voice is only yours. In the midst of many painters, you will discover that the finishing touches in yours are not in other works in town.

For me, I don’t think Ode Amedu Idoko can be somebody else nor do I wish somebody else to be Ode Amedu Idoko. – No! I don’t pretend to write like other authors. I may not have the sentence correction; I may lack good grammatical structure; my punctuation may not be correct; my simile and metaphors may not be appropriate and my quotations may be out of context at times but there is a uniqueness which I call idokoness (in my writing)- it is mine – purely, undilutedly and freely coming from my heart.

I may not have the storehouse of free-flowing grammatical finesse of Bishop David Oyedepo; I may not have the grammatical lexicon and twist of Professor Wole Soyinka; I may be wanting in the free-styled poetic acumen of my uncle, Ojo Ichakpa Amali. But I appreciate them all. They are all great authors, who I secretly want to be like .

But I don’t pretend to write like them. Simply put, I can’t be them. Why should I in the first place? If I try it, I will simply destroy the much cherished, treasured and valued idokoness in my writing. We are talented authors but there is that particular icing on individual’s cakes that is unique to each person”.

Knowing you are a unique creature and that there is no other you is the secret to true healing and success in life. Discovering yourself, acting yourself and behaving yourself is key to true happiness in life.

For me, I know there is no other me out there nor is there any better person than me. With this knowledge, I have always cherished and valued my person. I try to be in my sphere without pretending to be anyone else. I’m always on top of my game. I know there is something about me that the whole world needs. All I have to do is exert myself, push myself to the limit and bring out the best in myself.  So be yourself.

  1. You are created for Dominion

Every creature has its own sphere of dominion. Birds have the air, fishes have the water but for you, you are created to dominate all. If only you know that you are created for dominion and not to be dominated, your perception about yourself will take a new turn.

You are created to dominate your environment, your situations and every circumstance around you. This will certainly give you the conqueror mentality. You are far more superior to any happenings around you. It doesn’t matter what you are passing through, have this mindset of dominion and you will come out of it in flying colours.

Whatever you are passing through today is only temporal and should not be allowed to define your life. Friends, every passing through has entry and exit points. Every day you are getting farther from the entry point and getting closer to exit point.

  1. You are born a Commander

This simply means you are to command and control all happenings around you. You are a victor and not a victim but if you don’t know, you remain under perpetually. The power to command situations is embedded in your tongue and until you learn to use it, you remain a victim.

Commanders don’t shy away from negative circumstances. Commanders don’t run away from battle fields.  Commanders issue instructions and they must be obeyed immediately. Whatever any other person says about you is irrelevant. Whatever other names given to you by men is not important. Know from this moment that you are a commander and begin to act likewise.

There was this story about a Rabbi who was a teacher. The Rabbi was a good teacher but each time he entered the class, he would bow to his students before starting the lessons. One day, one of the students said to him, “Rabbi, you are our teacher and you know almost everything. We only stand up to greet you when you enter the class.

But why do you bow before you start teaching? The Rabbi said “well, I did not know you noticed this. However, despite being your teacher, I bow before you because I know that one of you may be my governor, my senator or my president tomorrow. So I want you to know that I recognize you before you get to that position.

Wherever you are today is irrelevant. There is a seed of greatness in you but it might never manifest until you learn how to act it, behave and say it openly.

  1. You are a Success

The only person who can stop you from becoming who God created you to be is yourself. You are born a success and God has equipped you with all the resources you need to succeed. That you are not succeeding today is not God’s faults. God has done His own part, the rest is left to you.

But remember, success has different meanings to different people. To some, it is the accumulation of material wealth. To others it is attainment of a particular goal in life like academic breakthroughs, business and career breakthroughs, family breakthroughs and so on.

No matter the definition you desire, you are already wired to achieve it. You have what it takes to break through. Inside of you is the capacity to effect that breakthrough. It may not be far away as you think. It’s within you. Look inwards.  E. I Shell postulated that “our generation is beset with problems more than past generations because we trust in the miracles of science and we refuse to look inwards”.

  1. You are a Solution to the Challenges of Life

You are created to provide solution to a particular challenge in life. Truth is that if there are no problems for you to solve you would not be here. And if you cannot provide solution to any challenge, you won’t be here either.

You were born because there is a particular challenge that only you can solve and you have the capacity to solve that challenge. (Repeat)

This could be in areas of sports, medicine, agriculture, industry, education, aviation, science and technology, commerce, politics and governance and so on. Whatever it is, go for it! It is yours for the taking!

The earlier you realize this and work towards it the earlier you will heal. You are a man or woman of purpose. You are here on the earth on a mission to provide solutions to the challenges bedeviling humanity. Please don’t add to them. Solve them for this is why you are here.

  1. You are an Eagle

An eagle is a unique bird with strength, precision and agility. Eagle is the king of the air. You are created as an eagle to soar while others sweat. Eagles grab prey without landing and take flight with it so the prey can be carried to a perch and torn apart. The eagle is noted for having flown with the heaviest load verified to be carried by any flying bird.

Eagles can even carry preys that are considerably heavier than themselves. Eagles have killed large mammals like horses, cattle, pigs, giraffes, camels, deer, and hippopotamuses weighing up to 30 kg and even feed on a 37 kg antelopes, 7–8 times heavier than the predating eagle.

As an eagle there is no limit to you can you achieve.

  1. You are a Lion, King of the jungle

What the eagle is on the air is what the lion is on the land. Lion is the strongest of all animals in the jungle. It is fearless, daring and always prevail. The lion does not feed on leftovers; its food must be fresh. The lion does not go hungry as long as there are games in the jungle.

I have discovered from Animal Geo Wild channel in DSTV cable that the lion feeds even on giraffe, hippopotamus, sharks and the strangest of animals. When the lion roars, all other animals must take cover if they don’t want to end up as an item in the lion’s menu that day.

Lions feed on a wide variety of prey, from wildebeest, impala, zebra, giraffe, buffalo and wild hogs to sometimes rhinos and hippos. They will also feed on smaller animals such as hares, birds and reptiles. Lions are also known to attack elephants when food is scarce.

As a lion, you are to prevail where others travail.

  1. You are a Supernatural Being

Unfortunately, many do not realize this simple truth of their supernatural origin. You are created with supernatural abilities beyond your comprehension. You can achieve just about whatever you put your heart and you are wired to do it. Just push yourself to the limit and you will discover what you can do.

You have an elastic ability without limits. This means you are a creator, an inventor, an author, an entrepreneur, sports star, entertainer, and artiste and so on.

Once you can put your mind to it, there is nothing in the world that can stop you. I have come to realize that when you desire a thing so desperate, all the forces in heaven and on earth and beneath the earth come together to deliver it to you. It doesn’t matter who is against it or not.

If you are in this, remember, you are not alone. We are all in it together. The world is sick, the world is in crisis, the world is in turmoil. The world is dis-eased. The world is in search of answers, the world needs healing. The answer is in all of us. Together, we can heal the world and make it a better place for all of us.

This is why I wrote “Putting your Talent to Work” published by Authorhouse, UK and available on kindle e-books, amazon.co.uk, google and authourhouse.co.uk. The book is in about 7 international languages including English, German, French, Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese and Russian.

I have also almost completed another classic one titled “Be Yourself” which is currently undergoing editing outside of the country.
